Foreclosures in the U.S. rose by nearly 20 percent in October 2025, year-over-year. In Washington state, foreclosure activity in October 2025 was 18.9 percent higher, with one home in some stage of foreclosure for every 6,578 housing units. Florida, South Carolina, Illinois, and Delaware top the list of states with the most foreclosure activity.
